We strive to attract, develop and motivate the most talented and passionate people we can find, people who care and who work together as partners across the business. We provide them with the tools and training they need to succeed in their work, and we want them to be responsible for their businesses and functions, we expect their best, so should you. The reason we wake up in the morning is to help our customers succeed financially and to try and satisfy all their borrowing needs. The result is we make money because of our focus on serving customers, not the other way around. This is what matters to MAS.
We value and support our people as a competitive advantage.
MAS was founded in 2003 by Troy Phillips and Brett Hartley.
They identified the need for an innovative mortgage and financial services business which takes a holistic and long term view of their client’s financial needs.
MAS has built its reputation on providing private banking style service to every client: one-on one service, new and innovative home loan products, fast approvals, and providing a real alternative to the big banks.
Troy is one of the pioneers in the Australian non-bank mortgage sector. His experience in banking and finance dates back to 1985, first at Australian Mortgage Securities (AMS) and then at Bank of New Zealand Australia (BNZA) (later HomeSide Lending). In 2003 Troy and Brett Hartley founded MAS – a highly successful wholesale mortgage funding specialist, where Troy manages sales and distribution.
Commencing his banking and finance career in 1987, Brett worked in capital markets at Rabobank in London. He returned to Australia as Head of Marketing at Primary Industry Bank of Australia (PIBA, later Origin) in its wholesale mortgage distribution business. Over this time, Brett developed a specialist skill built around wholesale funding and the distribution of these funds as a retail mortgage product. Brett founded MAS with Troy Phillips in 2003 as a wholesale mortgage business, where Brett oversees funding and operations.
